Nebraska crop conditions take slight hit this week from weather

Nebraska crop conditions took a slight hit last week from severe storms and the drought in parts of the state.

The USDA says corn is rated 77 percent good-to-excellent, down five percent from last week.

Farmer and ServiTech Agronomist Matt Oswald of Aurora says corn remains relatively healthy. “A lot of the corn around our area is starting to tassel so we’ll be seeing pollination in a little less than a week or so.”

Nearly 60 percent of soybeans have bloomed – a jump of 14 percent from last week but good-to excellent condition ratings dropped three percent to 77 percent.
