I was going out to put in the posts for our driveway gates when I heard a rifle shooting in my direction. The rounds were falling just short of me though. I could hear the crack of a .22 rifle and then the rounds plinking near me a second later.
This told me the shooter was far away. At first I thought it was a pellet gun because the rounds were dropping short until I realized how far away the shooter was.
The person was on the other side of Townline Road hiding in the woods and shooting at my carport, I believe. I just happened to be in the line of fire when it started.
I had my camera so I ran down Lyle Road to see if I could catch the shooter. I was able to find out where the shooting was coming from but for my safety I kept myself down low to the ground and hidden from view. This also prevented me from finding the shooter himself.
You could hear some of the rounds on video.
I am 100% certain it was a .22 rifle. This is a very distinct sound. The only reason I had at first doubted myself is because I did not know how far away the shooter was and I could hear the rounds falling short of their target. Once I realized how far away they were, I understood the range was too far for precise shooting with a .22
